The Horizon II is a traditionally built wooden yacht that is perfect for an adventure that will take you to the most remote locations of the Maldives. The Southern Atolls are one few ‘final frontier‘ surf trips. One of the most remote areas on the planet where charter boats are the only form of access, making this an exclusive dream surf trip.
Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll (also known as the Huvadhoo Atoll) is generally known to have the best conditions for surfing in the Maldives as it picks up plenty of swell offering everything from heaving hollow waves to soft and never ending playful faces for all levels.
While most of the atolls in the entire Maldives have their prime season between April till September, South Atolls have a more extended season from February till November. Some say that the best conditions occur between February to April just before the southwest monsoon begins and also from September to November when it ends.
Valid for trips from May-September 2018 & May-September 2019.

For some reason the Maldives is often deemed as super expensive, with softer waves. Not true. There are trips at all sorts of prices and the waves can range from friendlier longboard and fish waves to heaving barrels; you just need to know where to look.
The Northern Male Atolls have plenty of waves only a short boat ride from the Airport. If you want to explore further South, jump on a boat trip and head to the Southern Atolls where you will also find heaps of uncrowded gems!
Here’s a guide to the waves which you might get to surf during your trip. Our operators have years of experience and will do their best to ensure that you’re in the right place at the right time. If you’re lucky they might even let you in on some of their secret spots too!
- Gaukendi Bridge
- Two Ways (Twin Peaks)
- Tiger Stripes (Rockets)
- Love Charms Voodoos (Blue Bowls)
- Beacons (Barracuda Point)
- Five Islands (Gani Point)
- Dhigulaabadhoo (Castaways)
Flying into the Maldives you would be landing in Male Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on the island of Hulhule, just outside of the capital of Male. From there, most operators can arrange transfers via boat or seaplane, depending on the distance. You may need to spend a night in Male as many operators transfers depart early in the day.
GETTING FROM MALE TO HUVADHOO ATOLL
The Southern Atolls are very remote and require an internal flight. This package includes return internal flights from Malé
