REGION

Parked in the North Indian Ocean, long range ground swells travel miles and unload in a tropical paradise full of amazing people, waves for all levels, palms and coconuts aplenty.

Indo has 2 seasons, wet and dry. Dry season has the most consistent winds and larger swells but don’t be fooled, if you know where to look there are amazing waves year round. Off season can deliver amazing waves and we are as passionate about this time of year as any.

Simuelue is an island that has got a lot to offer for it’s visitors. You will find beautiful deserted beaches, caves, forests, wild life, culture in the small towns all over the island, lakes, waterfalls and of course perfect, uncrowded surf breaks! The Simeulue region consists of many islands, Pulau Simeulue being the ‘biggest’. Most of the smaller islands are reachable by boat and well worth a visit.

WAVES

Simeulue is ‘back to nature’ surfing at its best! The island is still very unknown, so it’s not overloaded with crowds. There are also a heap of secret spots! Here’s a guide to the waves which you might get to surf during your trip. Our operators have years of experience and will do their best to ensure that you’re in the right place at the right time. If you’re lucky they might even let you in on some of their secret spots too!

ACCOMODATION

GETTING THERE

Start by organizing flights into Medan, which usually transfer from either Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Singapore or Bali.

GETTING FROM MEDAN TO SIMEULUE ISLAND:

Direct flights leave from Medan to Simeulue.  Lion Air (Wings) is the main carrier that flies you to the island. The flight takes around 60 minutes. You can check the flights and book online via: www.lionair.co.id or www.nusatrip.com

Please keep in mind that you tell them you want to bring a board, so they can reserve space on the plane.

Once at the airport, Simeulue Surf Lodges staff will pick you up and take you to the resort, and of course will also take you back to the airport after your stay as well.

Don’t fancy a flight? You can also get to Simeulue by boat, though it’s a bit more adventurous! Ferrys leave from Singkil (get there by public bus from Medan) or from Labuhan Haji. However let us know so we can arrange pickup from Sinabang (the port of Simeulue)
