SAPNG in conjunction with the surf industry, tourism operators and traditional reef custodians have developed a unique and sustainable foundation upon which the surfing resource is developed and managed for the collective benefit of its traditional resource custodians and SAPNG affiliated surf clubs and commercial operators.

INFO ON VSAMP:

Another great feature of the Vanimo Surf Area Management Plan (VSAMP) is that the small surf fee goes into local community projects and the local surfers are encouraged to ensure all the visitors have an enjoyable experience. So it’s a win/win model for the locals and visitors. 

One of the most unique and untouched surf destinations in the world, PNG is remote, tricky to navigate and therefore holds undiscovered and uncrowded surf. PNG’s most renowned season is November – April with the most consistent surf but you can also find waves from May – October.

We are members of Surfing Association Papua New Guinea (SAPNG) and proud to help protect and sustain the surf and tourism industry by only representing the best operators who are likewise dedicated to maintaining PNG’s culture and landscape.

Here’s a guide to the waves which you might get to surf during your trip. Our operators have years of experience and will do their best to ensure that you’re in the right place at the right time. If you’re lucky they might even let you in on some of their secret spots too!

Flights leave to Port Moresby (POM) from from various Australian airports daily.  From Port Moresby, you will need to fly to Vanimo (VAI), which depart 5 days a week with Air Niugini. Depending on what day you arrive in Port Moresby, you may need an overnight stay before flying to Vanimo.

(Any trip specific details such as pick up times, hotel arrangements or additional requirements shall be emailed to you within 48 hours of your booking confirmation)

Once you’ve made payment for your booking you will receive a booking confirmation email with important information regarding your package. Please read this information carefully. If you notice any errors or have any questions regarding your booking, please reply to this email within 24 hours.

Any dietary and/or medical requirements must be stated on your booking form. Any changes in regards to customer information, after the booking has been confirmed cannot be guaranteed.

Sometimes we will request additional information. If so, it is your responsibility to provide this information.

Please note that when booking through Wave of the Day you will have ongoing customer service both before and while on your trip.

Additional T&C’s

The Surfing Association of Papua New Guinea (SAPNG) charge all surfers to all PNG destinations a AUD $50 once only membership and the local VSAMP charge AUD $12/day for surfers which goes to the local village projects. This is paid once on your trip.

I travelled to Vanimo with a group of mates (12 of us) for a surf trip, my third trip there. Staff was awesome, food was plentiful and tasty and the waves were great. Best thing only us in camp, no crowds and plenty of waves to go around. If you’re after a unique surf destination look no further than Vanimo Surf Lodge in PNG.

We were the first guests for the season so we had the waves to ourselves and struck a good swell. Manu drove us to other reef breaks not far away and good quality. The staff were friendly and keen to help out in any way. 
Food was excellent , good variety and plenty of it. The huts were clean and airy, traditional but with fans. 
Thanks to Tori, Manu and all staff for a good time.

We all had a great time. Great food and surf every day and it was sad to leave all that behind and go back to work. I can’t wait to go back and see the friendly staff as well. Lodge accommodation is Beach Front. .. world class Surf is only 50m from shore. Fishing is amazing with yellow fin tuna and giant trevally. We really enjoyed the waterfall walks to Cool off.

Terms and conditions

Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

-The Promoter is Vanimo Surf Lodge

-The Promotion commences at 9.00am (AEST) on Friday 17th August 2018 and closes at 5:00pm (AEST) on Friday 21st December 2018 (“Promotion Period”) with final draws to take place 22nd December 2018 in accordance with these conditions listed.

-Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or older, excluding employees (and their immediate family members) of the Promoter.

-To enter the Promotion, Eligible Entrants must book and pay to stay at Vanimo Surf Lodge during the period between 1st January 2019 and 30th April 2019. One entry per person per paid booking permitted. Valid email addresses must be supplied by all entrants to be eligible.

-Prize Draw Date: 22/12/2018

-The first Eligible Entrant drawn will win a DBurge Surf Board designed and crafted by DBurge Surfboards and Nat Young valued at $1,500.

-The prize winner will be responsible to arrange for any associated transport and costs if they are unable to collect the surfboard from DBurge Surfboards store at Kincumber NSW.

-The Promoter’s representative may draw reserve entries and record them in order to use in the instance an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is drawn, or a prize is not claimed.

-The Eligible Prize Winners will be notified via electronically distributed mail or by phone to the contact information provided within 2 business days of the Prize Draw. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

-Grand Prize – 1 DBurge Surf Board. The total value of the prize pool is $1,500 AUD. The prize awarded may not be exactly as illustrated in displays or marketing for the Promotion.
